Ultrasound constitutes the cornerstone of modern obstetric care. It is therefore essential that sonographers are properly trained and that high standards are maintained by continuing education and audit. The Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) has introduced a process of comprehensive training, support and audit for the proper implementation of many aspects of Fetal Medicine.

Every year the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) awards several 2-year training fellowships in fetal medicine. The practical training is undertaken at the Fetal Medicine units at King’s College Hospital in London, Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent, Southend University Hospital in Essex, Homerton University Hospital in London, North Middlesex University Hospital in London and University Hospital Lewisham in London.

Each year the Fetal Medicine Foundation organises a two day course in the first week of December in London, in which leading international experts present and discuss the latest advances in fetal medicine.
